A Cold Day in Hell
...
We left at 6 a.m. to vote. Rob, Chandler, Alia, Neviyah and me. The parking lot is full so we parked in a neighborhood down the street. Neviyah is slung. Alia is in her pajamas. We walk. It is cold. The wind is cold. The line. Oy! The line snakes around the building. There are at least 120 people in line. We stand. For about 5 minutes. The line does not move. It is too cold for Neviyah. We realize that Neviyah cannot be outside this long. We are not in a food line Russia. So Rob volunteers. "You go home with the kids. When I am almost at the door, I will call. You can come back then." So we drive home. We are waiting for the call. To vote.
